Ogeechee Riverkeeper

February 2025

We #LoveORK volunteers and interns! We especially love that they don't mind getting dirty for clean water.

We love working with youth and inspiring them to take care of nature. They are the next generation to #LoveORK

We love all the wildlife in our basin, and it takes all of us to protect it. Consider showing how much you #LoveORK by becoming a member today.

Fauna: Platalea ajaja

The roseate spoonbill is Coastal Georgia’s own flamingo. With its striking pink plumage, distinctive spoon-shaped bill, and graceful demeanor, this elegant bird stands in coastal marshes, swamps, and other shallow-water environments.

Capitol Conservation Day is March 4

ORK is part of Georgia Water Coalition, which organizes this event at the Georgia State Capitol each year. Gather for a continental breakfast, orientation, and issue briefings, then walk across the street to the Capitol for a group photograph and to meet with lawmakers about timely water legislation.

Upcoming volunteer events

Jump into the creek with KSBB and Ogeechee Riverkeeper by participating in our monthly creek cleanup near the Willie McTell Trail in Statesboro. Assist us in cleaning out the litter booms as well as conducting trash analysis on February 26.

This project is in partnership with Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful. Pre-registration is required.

Legal Advocacy

As part of Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, preserve, and improve the water quality in our basin, ORK makes official comments and joins sign-on letters. Review the latest.
