From now until June 30, any new or upgrading member will be entered to win a stay at a mountain cabin retreat or a beach getaway!

Becoming a member of ORK allows us to continue the important work of testing water quality, sharing stories from the watershed, fighting legal battles, providing recreational guidance, and coordinating cleanup efforts in our 5,500 square-mile territory across 20 Georgia counties. 

In addition to the various members-only perks, like special events, discounts, and more, adding your name to our membership list is critical to our legislative efforts and grant applications.

Welcome ORK's newest staffer

Born in Indiana to parents whose honeymoon was a backpacking trip, Adam spent the majority of his childhood outside. Growing up barely two blocks from the White River helped ignite an early love for waterways and their environs.

When he’s not representing the upper watershed for ORK, you can find Adam hiking, mountain biking, and paddling with his wife and son, or occasionally guiding trips on the rivers of Middle Georgia, or in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

Corporate sponsorships offer perks all year long. Depending on the level of sponsorship, benefits can include tickets to the Oyster Roast.

Fauna: Centronyx henslowii

Henslow’s sparrows are migratory, spending their winters in the southeastern United States, including the Ogeechee watershed. They enjoy the marshy lowlands with tall grass and pine flatwoods that dot the area. This spunky, tiny creature was described and named by J. J. Audubon after his friend John Stevens Henslow (Henslow himself was a teacher and close friend of Charles Darwin).

Ogeechee Riverkeeper makes official comments in response to proposals and permit applications. These comments become part of the public record and are available for viewing here.

In the community

ORK is honored to be chosen to receive a donation from the proceeds of the RoughRunners 48-hour Stevi's Roost ultramarathon event May 30-June 1. If you're in Sylvania, come out and cheer for the runners!

We will be joining LOWCo Rods at their Fly Line Social event May 21, 5-8 p.m. at Debellation Brewing in Richmond Hill. Grab a cold beer, swap fish stories, and connect with fellow anglers in a laid-back, friendly setting.
