Greetings, MOWDR friends and family!
It has just been a few weeks since I joined Meals on Wheels Diablo Region as Interim Executive Director. Already, I am amazed at the love and generosity of this community.
As an Interim ED, my job is to support organizations that are experiencing change, and help them become healthier and stronger to build sustainable futures. Sometimes I stay with organizations for a few months, sometimes for a year or more. I know my work is done when a permanent executive can join the team and thrive. I am grateful to be here at MOWDR, supporting this powerful work with you.
What stands out to me so far about the MOWDR family is dedication. The deep dedication of the many volunteers, staff and board members, and community partners here is awe inspiring. In the short time since my arrival, I have seen birthday bags prepared, handmade placemats delivered, doctors visiting homes of the homebound... and many other demonstrations of this community’s deep dedication to our most vulnerable members.
Your dedication is surely a big part of the reason this organization has prospered and grown for 50 years. And, I believe it is what will carry us through 50 more!
Happy holidays from all of us at MOWDR,

Betty Jo has been donating to Meals on Wheels Diablo Region (MOWDR) for many years. When asked what motivates her to donate, she explained that she is most interested in helping organizations that really make a difference in people’s lives.
“I give to a variety of different organizations,” Betty Jo explained, “but I choose the organizations I give to based on the impact they make in the community.” Read more about Betty Jo's story here.

Sharing the Love at the Brentwood Holiday Parade
MOWDR shared the love this holiday season by participating in the annual Brentwood holiday parade! MOWDR's Subaru was turned into Santa's sled with holiday presents stacked on the rooftop and decorated with festive lights. MOWDR reindeer and elves shared candy canes and information about Subaru's Share the Love campaign with parade attendees young and old!
During the Share the Love campaign, going on now through January 2, 2019, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities.* Through this event, as a member of Meals on Wheels America, Meals on Wheels Diablo Region will receive a share of the donation from Subaru vehicles sold in California.

Tis the Season for Togetherness
This holiday season, several groups across the Bay Area came together to spread holiday cheer to the seniors we serve. Volunteer groups rallied to quilt handmade placements, create heartfelt cards, and even collect blanket donations to give seniors a warm and happy holiday season.
Special thanks to our generous and kind-hearted friends at The Scrappy Quilters, Stick With It Lacrosse Group, Blackhawk Country Club, Wells Fargo Bank, Girl Scout Troops from San Ramon, and The Markstein Group for helping make the season brighter for seniors across Contra Costa County.
MOWDR welcomes companies and organizations of all sizes to participate in volunteer projects throughout the entire year! To learn more about group volunteer opportunities contact Lee Davenport at ldaveport@mowdr.org or 925.954.8736.
