Walnut Creek, CA – Meals on Wheels Diablo Region (MOWDR), a full-service nonprofit organization dedicated to improving all aspects of senior lives in Contra Costa County, today announces its membership to the Evidence-Based Leadership Council (EBLC) affiliate program. The EBLC is a collaborative effort to help people find, adopt, and implement evidence-based health promotion programs. EBLC provides a centralized hub for communities, senior centers, and others seeking to learn more about innovative programs proven to help people manage and improve their health and wellbeing.
"Collaborating with other like-minded organizations to share best practices strengthens us all," said Elaine Clark, CEO of MOWDR. "MOWDR will continue to apply evidence-based practices for fall reduction, senior isolation, and malnutrition. Joining EBLC gives us a support structure to continue our work."
According to NCOA.org, evidence-based programs are built upon a rigorous study of the effects and outcomes of specific interventions or model programs. They demonstrate reliable and consistently positive changes in important health-related and functional measures. MOWDR offers A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls as well as other evidence-based exercise programs.
“Being a member of EBLC will provide valuable guidance as we expand our evidence-based programs into East Contra Costa County and beyond. Being the only Master Trainer in our county, I see firsthand the need not only for the program, but also for skilled coaches to administer it,” said Alayne Balke, Fall Prevention Program Manager of MOWDR.
For information about being A Matter of Balance coach or for additional program details, please contact Alayne Balke, abalke@mowdr.org or call 925.891.4761.
